Eureka Sky Lands Huge Plunge
Feb 04, 2019
Grand Syndicates mare Eureka Sky has landed a big plunge with a gutsy win at Strathalbyn.
In a great training effort from David Jolly, she was stepped up to 2000m and the plan was to go straight to the front and lead the field in an effort to get her to settle better than she has in previous starts. Jockey Jake Toeroek followed instructions perfectly and allowed her to cross from her barrier to lead the field, getting her to relax out in front. With the favourite putting her under pressure and taking it up to her from the 450 metres, Eureka Sky fought on well, and despite being headed in the straight she fought back well to win by half a length to land some healthy bets after being backed from as much as $17 into $5.
It was the second victory for the former $20,000 Adelaide Magic Millions purchase.
