Tykiato Scores Win Number Eight

Jan 12, 2019

Grand Syndicates mare scored an emotional win at Cranbourne on Friday, a reward for her consistency of late after a run of placings.

Away from the gates a little slowly, she settled second last for jockey Fred Kersley. She began to edge in to the race approaching the turn and Kersley patiently waited for the split to come at the 150m mark, where she still had around 3 lengths to make up on leader Invincible Amici. Despite conceding 2kg to that mare, Tykiato really attacked the line and won by a neck.

Trainer John Price and his staff have done a wonderful job with the seven year old mare, who has had her share of problems over the last year or so, and the victory was a tribute to their hard work and great placement.

The former $6500 yearling buy has now won 8 of 42 starts, and been placed on a further eight occasions, banking over $260,000.
