Fille Gris Scores Maiden Win
Nov 12, 2018
Newly relocated mare Fille Gris broke her maiden in style at Ballina on Monday to become the 11th winner of the season for the black and gold silks of Grand Syndicates.
First up for Gold Coast based trainer Bruce Hill after beginning her career in Victoria, the striking grey has relished the move and rewarded her owners at her first start up north.
After beginning well from the outside gate, she was carried wide into the first turn by another runner. Gun jockey Ben Looker didn't panic however, and eased the mare back to settle second last. As the field approached the 600m, Looker made the race winning decision to go forward to be the widest runner into the home turn and she sprinted quickly in the straight to hold on at the finish to score by half a length.
The former $15,000 purchase, who gets her grey colouring from her sire and fellow grey Dash For Cash, has now had nine starts for a win and 5 placings, picking up almost $30,000 in the process
