Champagne Vega Gets The Corks Popping

Sep 30, 2018

Talented Grand Syndicates' 3 year old Champagne Vega put it all together at Ballina on Sunday, scoring a nice win at just his third start.

The son of Lope De Vega was ridden a treat by Luke Rolls, jumping from barrier 9 to land one off the fence in fourth position. He travelled well in the run then sprinted quickly when asked to by Rolls to score by half a length.

After doing more than a few things wrong at his previous start, Champagne Vega showed that he had put all that behind him and saluted in style.

The former $25,000 purchase still has a bit to learn but judging by today's win, there are surely more in store for his excited bunch of owners.

The win continues a hot streak for Grand Syndicates, with 4 winners from 15 runners in September.

His win was the third leg of a treble for trainer Bruce Hill, who had scored in the previous two races.
