Former 'wild-child' Zoffany's Lad, shook his bad boy tag impressively yesterday, winning his maiden with authority at just his second start since having his racing ban lifted.

A former $17,500 yearling purchase, the Grant Allard trained son of Zoffany was the pick of the the yard pre-race and ran right up his good looks, taking advantage of recent NSW prize money increases. With his two starts this time in a deep contrast to his first two last prep, which saw him run off the track twice and earn himself a ban from racing, this was an impressive victory that gives his owners plenty of reasons to be excited for the future

The strong performance was aided by a patient ride from leading Mid-North Coast jockey Ben Looker, who allowed Zoffany's lad to find his feet early and travel sweetly into the race without fuss, looking the winner a long way out, before exploding down the middle of the track inside the last 400m to pick them up with ease.

A big congratulations to all involved and well done to Grant Allard in particular who has done wonders getting this horse back on track.
