EUREKA! Change Of Scenery Works For Rebel Raider Filly

Jul 31, 2018

There were smiles all around at Gawler on Sunday as newcomer to the David Jolly stable, EUREKA SKY dominated her rivals, comfortably winning her maiden at just her 2nd start for her new trainer.

Originally syndicated in Victoria, the 3yo daughter of REBEL RAIDER had found the strong Victorian circuit a little tough over the shorter journey's and after an uninspiring 10th of 11 over 1400m at Pakenham at her 6th start, a plan was hatched to see the filly move states and tackle the staying trips in South Australia.

Showing promise at her first start at Morphettville where she was held up for a run, but still ran on strongly over 1550m, the 1700m at Gawler looked a perfect progression and the punters didn't miss it, backing her strongly from $4.80 into as short as $3.10. From there it was left to gun apprentice Kayla Crowther who gave her a peach from the wide gate, finding cover three-wide as the speed went on early before presenting her off a long sustained run late to outstay her rivals easily and vindicate the decision to change scenery with her.

Off the back of that win, it would appear that there is more in store for her as she continues to step up in trip for David Jolly. Congratulations to all of the owners involved!
