High Sierra continues Team Grand's hot streak

Mar 01, 2018

Grand Syndicates' brilliant recent run rolled on at Victoria's Terang meeting today with promising three-year-old High Sierra claiming victory in the TERANG CO-OP Maiden Plate (Race 1-1856m).

The Kiwi-bred daughter of Redwood, a $NZ25,000 purchase at New Zealand Bloodstock's 2015 Festival Yearling Sale, had been building towards a break through triumph, and did everything right when getting the better of capable types North Afrika and odds-on favourite Tricky Mix.

Watch: High Sierra breaks through at Terang

It was Team Grand's fifth Victorian winner since February 8 following on from Tavisocks (Ararat, Feb 8), Khutulun(Caulfield, Feb 10), Royal Volley (Yarra Valley, Feb 15) and Guess Again (Kyneton, Feb 21), with four of those being prepared at Caulfield by Luke Oliver. Prior to today, the Oliver stable had trained nine winners from their last 26 runners.

High Sierra continues to improve with experience, with both Luke Oliver and winning jockey Daniel Moor commenting post-race about her bright future over the middle distances.
